Hitler Was an Atheist?

Found good article at the Proud Atheist about Hitler and atheism. Why do Christians identify Hitler with atheism when there is historical proof to the contrary?

To my knowledge as an amateur WW2 historian, Hitler never renounced his Catholicism.

Also - All nazi belt buckles contained the phrase 'God is with us'

Whatever else Adolf was, he certainly wasn't an Atheist. But more importantly, even IF he was, none of his actions were performed in the NAME of Atheism. Unlike the actions of the Church/Mosque/Synagogue etc

The Christians see this person has doing very even things, so they cant imagine he would have a belief in god. Kind of like when women now days kill thier children and say god told them too and Christians and dont believe them but yet the bible stats that this had happen before.

I think Hitler actually was an atheist, don't quote me on this but i think they found some journal where he is disgusted by people of faith for being sheep and he only appreciated Catholicism for it's ability to control people.

Even if that is true, which it isn't, it doesn't make him an atheist. It makes him a Catholic, but an unscrupulous one.

John: that sounds more like Marx than Hitler. Virtually all of Hitler's personal writings, speeches, and policies were littered with Christian references, affirmations of faith, and the like. In addition to Jews, Gypsies, Communists, and homosexuals, he also imprisoned those he called godless.

The man was much an atheist as John the Baptist.

There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING linking Hitler to atheism. He was born as a Catholic and never converted to any thing else.

John is actually right about Hitler being generally negative about catholicism, but it wasn't part of some hidden journal, it was quite a public opinion.

He saw the modern day Christianity as weak and meek, but this doesn't for a second mean that he didn't believe in god.

All the times he wrote about his despair about Christianity, he wrote about how he would create his own religion of "strong Christianity".

Just because he hates the various types of Christianity doesn't mean he didn't believe in god, as he spoke far more about his strong god.

Pope Pius XII and Hitler were like peas and carrots. Wonder why they called Pius XII Hitler's Pope? If memory serves me right, isn't Rome in Italy and Italy was a fascist regime ?
